VVCA Model Telemedicine Regulations 2022
A framework to provide support and direction for practitioners, associations, legislatures, and state boards of veterinary medicine.
Press Release
The VVCA issued these Model Telemedicine Regulations as a framework to provide support and direction for practitioners, associations, legislatures, and state boards of veterinary medicine, all of which play a role in safeguarding real-world standards of practice.
The VVCA Model Telemedicine Regulations were spearheaded and authored by VVCA board members. They were developed based on input from the VVCA Advisory Council and the Veterinary Innovation Council’s (VIC) Cross-Industry Forums. The cross-industry forums were designed to provide clarity and unify the message regarding a virtual/telemedicine VCPR. Forum participants spanned individual and corporate practitioners, national veterinary associations, pharmaceutical industry influencers, veterinary colleges, telemedicine companies, and nonprofit organizations. The vast majority of participants agreed that a virtual VCPR, with appropriate guardrails, is feasible and desirable. These Model Telemedicine Regulations take into account many of the questions raised by the profession.
